In some Women, Morning Sickness is one of the earliest signs of pregnancy. This may range from mild nausea to severe and frequent vomiting. The intensity is often related to any pre-existing issues with the digestive system. In Chinese medicine, Morning Sickness is closely related to an imbalance between blood and Qi or the liver and the stomach/spleen. Other symptom’s can include
- Dry Mouth without desire to drink.
- Poor Appetite
- Sour/bitter taste in the mouth.
- Oppression in the chest
A 32 year old lady who was 7 weeks pregnant came to me with severe vomiting, she also complained of fatigue, feeling cold and some depression, in Chinese Medicine, here we strengthen and pacify the stomach, tonify the spleen. Week 1, she had 2 treatments and Week 2, she had 1 treatment. This was sufficient in stopping the Nausea and Vomiting.
